About Me

My name is Junsung Hyun, also written as 현준성 玄晙聖

I was born in Korea, raised in Singapore, and later moved to Canada. Living across cultures shaped how I think about food, identity, and business. Korean food, to me, is not just cuisine. It is a heritage and a memory passed down through generations.

Much of my culinary foundation comes from traditional Korean flavors inherited through my family lineage. Those flavors continue to influence how I cook, develop menus, and create products today. I take pride in bringing these traditional Korean flavors into modern formats, whether through video content, commercial menus, or consumer products designed for global markets.

I spent over a decade in professional kitchens, working in corporate restaurant environments and some of the most well-known Korean restaurants in the city. Kitchens taught me discipline, consistency, and respect for systems. Over time, I became increasingly interested not just in cooking, but in how food businesses operate. I became deeply interested in kitchen workflow, food cost, menu engineering, and brand positioning.

That curiosity led me beyond the kitchen. I worked across different business environments, collaborating with operators and building concepts from the ground up. I also explored other creative and business ventures, learning through both success and failure. These experiences shaped how I approach food today, not only as cuisine, but as a long-term business and brand.

Today, my work focuses on developing profitable Korean and Asian inspired menus, product development for global markets, and curating brand-driven food concepts. I am particularly interested in how Korean food evolves outside of Korea, how it adapts to different markets, and how it builds long-term brand value internationally.

I love building brands and curating menus that represent identity. To me, food is not just about taste. It is about narrative, positioning, and experience. A strong dish should reflect the brand, the culture, and the intention behind it.

This space is where I document that process.
The work, the thinking, and the journey of building Korean food brands globally.
